Client user manual
Navigation Main window shows map or satellite image as a background. Stored in the database, objects, if found, are mapped onto the background image as well as user-made markers, lines, polygons and texts. The system has some additional windows: Control panel (top), Reference window (right bottom) and Scale window (left bottom). Control window is used for switching between various operating modes which are described below. Reference window shows current screen position on the map and allows to pan main window by dragging the red rectangle. Scale window shows you current scale in kilometers. All the optional windows may be minimized by pressing To the right of main window one can see informational area divided into three frames: hint frame, object frame and search frame. Hint frame helps user to work correctly in any system state. Object frame contains the Object Tree. The tree has branches (for example, "Transport") and leafs (for example, "Railway Stations", "Subway Stations"). By clicking leaf checkbox user makes visible (and clickable) all the objects of such type. Search frame has simple text search mode and advanced search mode using additional parameters. Navigation Panning the map. For switch to that mode you should press the Return to initial scale and position. Click the Changing the raster background. By clicking the mouse one could fix current coordinates for copy/paste operation if needed. Objects To perform quick search of all objects of particular type within screen area one can select required object type(s) into the Object Tree. If such objects are stored in the database they will appear in the main window as pictograms. To know more about the object mouse cursor may be placed over the pictogram. This results in a small pop-up window close to the pictogram. Last one contains title of the object and small buttons: , and . Placing mouse cursor over the button leads to pop-up window growing in size to hold some information about the object. The button is used to edit the object information, and the button - to close the pop-up window.

Нажатием кнопки KML files import/export KML 2.2 format is supported by MapStation for data exchange with other applications, for example, Google Earth. Markers, paths and polygons plotted within MapStation environment could be exported to Google Earth and vice versa. To import graphical primitives from Google Earth press button Search Search is performed within a range of selected objects' types or directly on the map in the given rectangle. Search by keyword(s). Keywords should be entered into text input window. Search results appear below. Only those objects will be found, which contain keyword(s) in a title or in a description. Placing mouse cursor over the object pictogram pop-ups a small informational window located in the main window close to the corresponding object. Clicking on the pictogram opens full-size informational pop-up window with additional information on the object. Search on map. To switch to this mode the button ![]() Picture 3. Search results. If a lot of objects were found several search result pages are presented. To navigate between them use links "Next >" and "< Previous". To print search result use link "Print results", which will open pop-up window containing search results ready for printing. Distance and area measurements MapStation enables you to measure distance and area directly on the map or satellite image. Distance. To switch to this mode use the ![]() Picture 4. To repeat measurements click the Drawing on the map MapStation uses this mode for placing markers, paths, polygons and text blocks directly on the map. Markers. To place marker on the map you should use the ![]() Picture 6. Marker with control pop-up window on the map To edit/remove the marker place mouse cursor onto maker image. Marker gets larger. Now press left mouse button. Bubble-shaped pop-up window appears. This window allows to edit marker comment or delete marker from the map window (see Picture 6). Edit the marker comment in the textarea window and press "Save". Pop-up window will be closed. To delete marker use the link "Delete" inside pop-up window. To close pop-up window use the link "Close". Lines and polygons. To plot paths and polygons on the map you should use the ![]() Picture 7. Making polygon on the map. Placing mouse cursor onto any path point makes it larger. Clicking opens pop-up bubble-shaped window like that on the Picture 6. To remove the figure press "Delete", to edit comment change it and press "Save". To close pop-up window use the link "Close". Text. To place text on the map you should use the ![]() Picture 8.
